Freedom for Yemen

.

Dear Yemen Ambassador
We, the Yemenis abroad, are demanding from you to take stand against the brutal force that is used by the Yemeni security forces against our brothers and sisters, who are rallying in peaceful protests ...to Free Yemen from a corrupted, manipulative, regime who did but nothing other than draining the resources of this country.

We have seen, since the uprising, dozens of the protesters wounded, and many have been killed due the gunshot wounds and the excessive force used against unarmed civilians.

Yemeni security forces are reported to have fired live ammunition at protesters in Sana’a, Aden and other cities across the country. They are being used to arm the soldiers and thugs who are repressing our brothers and sisters in Yemen today, who were attacked by hundreds of armed men apparently supported and organized by uniformed security forces. Even the solidarity convey which tried to reach Aden from Taiz was blocked to do so.

We have been following human rights abuses and extralegal killings of demonstrators and we have seen over and over again violation of the international law and the constitution of the Republic of Yemen which guarantees the right to peaceful assembly.

All these have been documented by eyewitnesses, including representatives of the international NGO Human Rights Watch.

Thus, we are asking you as a citizen in the first place and as an officer serving the Yemeni citizens abroad to:

1. Condemn the violent repression of peaceful demonstrations in Yemen
2. Support the right of the people to protest
3. Call upon the state to end violent crackdowns
4. Join people’s demand of immediate resignation of President Ali Abdullah Saleh
5. Last and not least- announce your resignation from this brutal regime and join the youth revolution of change.

Ali ‘Abdullah Saleh, has overseen harsh crackdowns of popular protests southern and northern of Yemen, and we’re deeply demanding you to call and support our request for an independent and impartial investigation into the past week's events, and the prosecution of government officials responsible for abuses.

Together we can pressure and show our support for our brave people in Yemen.

We hope to see a statement of condemnation from your side as a responsible citizen of Yemen.

Sincerely,
Yemeni Citizens
Hana al-Khamri
